Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. - Stevenson men's volleyball junior Austin Jacoby (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) totaled a season-high 21 kills while junior Adam Thatcher (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) had 20 digs as the 11th-ranked Mustangs upset No. 3 Juniata Friday at Eastern Mennonite's Yoder Arena, 22-25, 25-22, 25-20, 17-25, 15-8.
The game marked the CVC opener for both teams and was the first win for Stevenson (11-5, 1-0 CVC) in four all-time meetings against the Eagles. It was also the Mustangs' first win in four five-set contests this season.
Stevenson, who avenged a 23-25, 25-17, 18-25, 20-25 loss to Juniata earlier this season on February 10, has now beaten the No. 2 and No. 3-ranked teams this season. The Mustangs swept No. 2 Carthage on February 9, 25-18, 25-18, 25-17.
Jacoby also added 10 digs while freshman Patrick Schuyler (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) had 10 kills and eight digs. Sophomores Kyle Wisner (York, Pa./Central York) and Wesley Richardson (York, Pa./Central) each had eight kills while junior Jon Martin (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) totaled six kills, four service aces and 10 digs.
Freshman Kyle Pottieger (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) posted six kills and five total blocks while sophomore David Moler (York, Pa./Central York) totaled 52 assists and eight digs.
Playing without total blocks leader, junior Eddy Klepper (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley), Stevenson managed 11 total blocks compared to 18 for Juniata. Both teams had 61 digs.
Ross Madden led the Eagles (14-7, 0-1 CVC) with 12 kills and 18 digs. Joe Bortak had 15 kills and five total blocks.
Stevenson continues competition in the first of two CVC Challenge Weekends on Saturday when it faces Thiel in an East Division match-up at Eastern Mennonite's Yoder Arena beginning at noon.
