Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Stevenson softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader, both 2-1, against Marian (Ind.) at the National Training Center on Monday.
In the first game, Stevenson would tie the game in the top of the seventh inning on a fielding error by the Knights (2-0) that would score freshman Kaitlyn Seger (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown). But a solo homerun by Kristen Tragesser would give Marian a walk-off victory.
Sophomore Briana Pichalski (Port Reading, N.J./Woodbridge) suffered the loss, allowing six hits while striking out a season-high eight batters.
Emily Gwaltney earned the win after allowing only two hits and striking out nine.
In game two, the Knights Allie Foley delivered a two-run homerun in the top of the second-inning, which proved to be the difference.
Down two-runs the Mustangs (3-3) would only tally one run in the final inning after sophomore Abbey DeFeo (Columbia, Md./River Hill) scored on an RBI-single from Brianna Dieter (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown).
Freshman Laura Welch (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) suffered the loss after allowing seven hits in 5.0 innings. She also struck out three batter.
Stevenson wraps up its six-game Florida road trip on Wednesday when it faces FDU-Florham at 11 a.m. followed by RPI at 3 p.m.
