Mustangs Split Two on Final Day of CVC Crossover, Fall to No. 4 Juniata

GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Stevenson men's volleyball team ran its winning streak to five with a sweep of first-year program Cazenovia 25-6, 25-15, 25-9 and took the second set against Juniata before falling to the No. 4-ranked Eagles 23-25, 25-17, 18-25, 20-25 on the final day of a CVC Crossover Sunday at Thiel's Beeghly Gymnasium.

The Mustangs (5-2), who were receiving votes in last week's AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll, were led by freshman Ryan Chinnici (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) in the opener against Cazenovia (0-7) as he totaled a team-high eight kills and 10 service aces.

Senior Rob Kryger (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and sophomore Wesley Richardson (York, Pa./Central York) each posted seven kills as the two combined for a .706 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Scott Morantz (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) had a career-high nine digs, two more than his previous career set in a 3-0 win versus Lancaster Bible at home on Mar. 10, 2012 while freshman Phil Dubay (Perry Hall, Md. / Greater Grace Christian Academy) saw his first action of the season, totaling five kills.

Freshman Robert Wingert (Hanover Township, Pa./Holy Redeemer) had 27 assists and five digs.

After sweeping No. 2 Carthage on Saturday, Stevenson took its first set in three all-time games against No. 4 Juniata (7-3), winning the second set 25-17 before falling in four. The Mustangs totaled 46 kills, but hit just .202 after committing 23 errors, come of which were off the Eagles' block.

Junior Jon Martin (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) led the way with eight kills and a team-high 15 digs while sophomore and reigning CVC Player of the Week Kyle Wisner (York, Pa./Central York) totaled seven kills and seven blocks.

Junior Austin Jacoby (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) had a team-high 11 kills, but was limited by a .094 hitting percentage as the result of eight attack errors. Junior Eddy Klepper (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had nine kills and a .615 hitting percentage to go along with three block assists while sophomore David Moler (York, Pa./Central York) had four kills, 39 assists and 12 digs.

Stevenson returns to action next Saturday, February 16 with two contests against Hunter and No. 6 Stevens.
