Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson softball senior Lisa Bilski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) hit a two-out, solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to forced extra innings in game one while senior Brittany King (Bel Air, Md./Mercy) went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs in game two as the Mustangs swept a non-conference doubleheader with McDaniel Wednesday at Weinberg-Fine Stadium.
The Mustangs (17-22) won their third-straight at home and ninth out of 13 this season as they handed the Centennial Conference's first-place team its first doubleheader losses of the year, 2-1 and 5-3.
After the Green Terror took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI-single by Jackie Liebowitz, neither team would score again until there were two outs in the bottom of the seventh. At that point, Bilski, the school's career home run leader, hit her third of the year and the 13th of her career to propel Stevenson into extra innings for the fourth time this season.
McDaniel (20-10) appeared to have scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th, but Amy Baumgardner was called for the third out after leaving the third base bag too early on what should have been a sacrifice fly to right by Jordan Beans.
The Mustangs took advantage of the miscue, scoring the game-winner in the bottom of the 10th on a walk-off bunt by sophomore Kristen Fassler (Owings Mills, Md./Western Tech) that scored senior Kristin Urban (Timonium, Md./Mercy).
Bilski and Fassler each went 1-for-3 with one RBI while senior Brittani Rynkowski (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) was also 1-for-3 as Stevenson made the most of the opportunities against Green Terror ace Caroline Brehm.
Brehm allowed just one earned run on three hits over 9.1 innings while striking out 15.
Freshman Brianni Pichalski (Port Reading, N.J./Woodbridge) earned her sixth win of the season after striking out four and allowing only seven hits.
In game two, the Mustangs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead courtesy of two solo home runs by King in the second and fourth innings and an RBI double by Fassler in the third.
McDaniel tied the game with three runs of their own in the top of the fifth on an RBI-single by Sam Stitely and a two-run single by Beans.
However, a two-run double by King in the bottom of the inning proved to be the game-winner as Urban and sophomore Lindsay Kuczak (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) scored to put Stevenson back in front, 5-3.
Freshman Katie Diller (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) picked up her 11th win in game two after scattering nine hits over 7.0 innings and striking out two.
Stevenson concludes its 2012 season on Thursday with a non-conference doubleheader at Albright. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
