Box Score STEVENSON, Md. - Stevenson men's volleyball sophomore Austin Jacoby (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) totaled 16 kills and 13 digs as the Mustangs fell to No. 11 Medaille for the third time in as many games this season with a 25-16, 27-25, 24-26, 25-21 loss in the ECAC Division III South Championship Saturday at Student Union Gymnasium.
Stevenson (20-13), who won the 2011 ECAC South Championship, concludes its 2012 season with its third postseason appearance and third 20-win season in the last four years.
Of the Mustangs' 13 losses, 10 came against teams ranked in the top-15 of the AVCA Division III Coaches' Poll, including three of the last four. Stevenson finished the season with wins in 10 of its last 14 games.
Freshman John Crinion (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) added 11 kills and seven digs while freshman David Moler (York, Pa./Central York) totaled 41 assists and 10 digs. Freshman Patrick Devine (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) had 13 digs and sophomore Jon Martin (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) had 11 as the Mustangs totaled 67 as a team.
The Mavericks (24-9) totaled 16 kills and a .443 hitting percentage in the first set as they led from start to finish.
The second set was the most competitive of the game, featuring 10 ties and five lead changes, before Medaille sealed the win after a Stevenson attack error and a kill by tournament Most Outstanding Player Nick Johnson.
Stevenson closed the third set with a 9-3 run to edge out a two-point, extended set victory before the Mavericks led from start to finish in the fourth to pick up the 3-1 victory and advance to the championship game versus No. 4 Juniata.
Trevor Barrett led Medaille with 17 kills and 10 digs while Erin Kelly had 15 kills, six digs and five block assists. Johnson had 14 kills while David Hill had 12 kills and nine digs.
The Mavericks defeated Juniata in Saturday's championship game, 25-18, 22-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-13.
