ANNVILLE, Pa. - Despite the efforts of Stevenson men's tennis seniors Ted Cooke (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill) and Shawn Kelley (Weltersbach, Germany/Ramstein American), the Mustangs dropped their final match before the conference tournament Thursday, losing to future Middle Atlantic Conference rival Lebanon Valley, 9-0.
The duo of Cooke and Kelley combined at No. 1 doubles to win the most games in doubles for Stevenson before falling to the Dutchmen's Ethan Grodzinski and Van Scyoc, 8-5. Cooke won six games at No. 1 singles before losing to Grodzinksi in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
In other singles action, Kelley had the tightest contest match at No. 3, almost forcing a third set against Ryan Weitzel before falling in a tiebreaker in the second, 7-5. Weitzel won the first set, 6-2.
The sixth-seed in the 2012 CAC Men's Tennis Championship, the Mustangs will travel to third-seeded Salisbury on Sunday.
