No. 7 Mustangs Remain Atop CAC Standings With 13-3 Road Win at Hood

FREDERICK, Md. - Stevenson men's lacrosse sophomore Chris Dashiell (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) scored a career-high five goals while the seventh-ranked Mustangs allowed six goals or less for the fourth-straight game and 10th time this season in a 13-3 CAC road victory over Hood Saturday at Thomas Athletic Field.

Stevenson (9-2, 4-0 CAC) is now 90-2 all time when allowing six goals or less and has won 57 out of the last 58. The team has now won 16 consecutive conference contests dating back to an 18-6 victory at Marymount (Va.) on Apr. 7, 2010.

The Mustangs, who are one of three conference unbeatens, find themselves tied atop the CAC standings with St. Mary's (Md.) who is also 4-0. No. 1-ranked Salisbury is 3-0.

With six points, Dashiell has scored 13 over the last two games, totaling seven goals and six assists in wins over Hood and Wesley. He has also scored 19 over his last four games, picking up three assists each versus Mary Washington and Tufts.

During its current four-game win streak, Stevenson has outscored its opponents, 54-17.

The Mustangs totaled a season-high 60 shots and 58 ground balls against the Blazers and led 4-0 after the first quarter in which they outshot Hood, 19-0.

Stevenson led 7-2 at halftime before outscoring the Blazers 6-1 in the second half with three goals coming from Dashiell.

Freshman Pat Candon (Long Beach, N.Y./Holy Trinity) and senior Justin Lea (Elkridge, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) each finished with three points on two goals and one assist. Lea's three points marked a season-high in his first game since February 25. He has totaled five goals and six points in just three games this season.

Senior Doug Reidt (Towson, Md./Hereford) netted his first career goal to give Stevenson a 3-0 lead, just five seconds after freshman Stephen Banick (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) scored on an assist from Lea.

Stevenson scored three goals just 52 seconds apart in the first quarter in building a 4-0 lead.

Defensively, the Mustangs forced 23 turnovers while holding Hood to just 15-of-31 on clears and 2-of-9 on extra-man opportunities.

Junior Kyle Holecheck (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola Blakefield) had seven ground balls and three caused turnovers while Dashiell had six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Senior Andrew McCrumb (Elkridge, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) also had three caused turnovers.

Trey Freeman led four scorers for the Blazers (3-9, 1-3 CAC) with a goal and an assist. Joseph McCulloh finished with 18 saves.

Stevenson returns home on Wednesday for the first time since a 9-5 victory over No. 2 Tufts on March 20 when it hosts St. Mary's (Md.) in a battle for first-place in the CAC at Mustang Stadium. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.

The Mustangs are 6-0 at home this season.
