Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson sophomore Lindsay Kuczak (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) totaled two of the team's three hits in game two versus No. 20 Salisbury as she went 2-for-2 with a walk, but the Mustangs fell victim to strong pitching in dropping a CAC doubleheader Friday at Weinberg-Fine Stadium.
Stevenson (8-14, 0-2 CAC) was held to just three hits in its opening CAC series of the season as the Sea Gulls' Erika Brittingham totaled 10 strikeouts en route to her third no-hitter this year in the opener.
Freshman Briana Pichalski (Port Reading, N.J./Woodbridge) limited the CAC's top-ranked scoring offense to just two runs on three hits through the first four innings before Salisbury scored three in the fifth and three in the sixth to earn the 8-0 victory.
In game two, Rachel Johnson allowed just one hit while striking out eight in five innings of work as the Sea Gulls built a 6-0 lead. They would add two more runs in the top of the sixth before the Mustangs loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the inning.
Senior Lisa Bilski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) drove in freshman Stephanie Ayres (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) to break up the shutout bid against Salisbury relief pitcher Kathryn Larson, but that would be the only run Stevenson would get as Larson retired the next two batters on ground outs to end the inning.
Kuczak scored the Mustangs' second run in the bottom of the seventh on a one-out RBI-single by Ayres before Larson struck out the final two batters to give the Sea Gulls their 44th-straight conference victory.
Ayres finished the second game 1-for-3 with a walk, run scored and an RBI.
Stevenson returns to action on Sunday when it hosts a non-conference doubleheader versus Mary Baldwin at Weinberg-Fine Stadium beginning at 2:30 p.m.
