Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. - Stevenson men's lacrosse senior Ian Bolland (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) totaled 10 saves and eight ground balls while junior Andrew Bishop (Lothian, Md./Southern) scored two goals as the fourth-ranked Mustangs fell on the road at No. 9 Lynchburg 6-3 Saturday at Shellenberger Field.
Stevenson (4-1) has yet to allow more than six goals in a game this season, but was held to its lowest goal output since an 11-2 loss at Montclair State on Mar. 6, 2004.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Hornets (5-1) in the series and was their first win since a 14-8 victory at home on Mar. 22, 2008.
The Lynchburg defense held the Mustangs to just 27 shots while holding a 40-29 advantage in ground balls. Stevenson was also 0-for-5 with a man advantage and 3-for-12 on face-offs.
Bishop, who posted career-highs in goals and points with the first multi-goal game of his career, now has four goals this season after enter this season with eight in his career, including three last season.
Senior Nick Rossi (Lutherville, Md./Towson) netted his first goal of the season and first since Mar. 27, 2010 when he had a goal and an assist in an 18-9 victory over Roanoke at home.
The Mustangs led 3-2 at halftime, but were outscored 4-0 in the second half marking the first time that they were held scoreless in a half since Apr. 19, 2009 when they were held scoreless in the first half versus Salisbury in the CAC championship game.
Dylan Hoff led Lynchburg with a goal and one assist as he was one of seven players to score for the Hornets. Franc Cook totaled seven saves.
Stevenson opens its final season in the Capital Athletic Conference on Wednesday when it hosts York (Pa.) at Mustang Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m.
