MARY'S CITY, Md. - Stevenson men's lacrosse senior Jimmy Dailey (Westminster/Winters Mill) scored his 300th career point while senior Ray Witte (Annapolis/St. Peter and Paul) became the school's career face-off wins leader as the No. 3-ranked Mustangs won its fifth-straight with a 17-4 CAC road victory over St. Mary's (Md.) Saturday at Seahawk Stadium.
With the win, Stevenson (13-1, 6-0 CAC) remained unbeaten in the CAC and tied atop the conference standings with No. 2 Salisbury as each team has one conference game remaining before next Saturday's showdown at Sea Gull Stadium.
Dailey totaled seven points on six goals and one assist and now has 300 career points with 151 goals and 149 assists. The school record holder in points and assists, he is the first player in school history to reach the 300-point plateau.
Dailey, who also picked up his school-record 16th game-winning goal on Saturday, now has 89 points this season and needs just seven more to tie the single-season school record held by current assistant coach Steve Kazimer.
Meanwhile, by winning 12-of-16 face-offs, Witte now has 536 career wins, surpassing Scott Steers' school record of 531 set from 1997-2000. Witte also picked up 10 ground balls and now has 282 in four seasons, leaving him 63 shy of Matt Smoot's school record.
Senior Neal Barthelme (Towson/Dulaney) finished with a career-high eight points on six goals and two assists and has totaled 31 goals and 26 goals during the team's five-game winning streak.
Dailey and Barthelme combined to score seven of the Mustangs' first 10 goals and had a hand in eight as they built a 10-2 halftime lead. The duo either scored or assisted on 13 of the team's 17 goals.
Stevenson outshot the Seahawks (3-8, 2-4 CAC) 58-24 and held a 41-20 advantage in ground balls. Senior Kyle Moffitt (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) had three goals and one assist as 11 different players scored for Stevenson, including junior Andrew McCrumb (Elkridge/Mount Saint Joseph) who netted his first of the season.
Junior Ian Bolland (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) had nine saves to lead a defensive effoer that surrendered five goals or less for the seventh time this season. Senior Evan Douglass (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) had five caused turnovers and now has a school record 46 this season, a total that would rank sixth on the school's career list.
J.P. Lennon had three goals to lead St. Mary's who also got 20 saves from Stu Wheeler.
Stevenson travels to York (Pa.) on Tuesday. Game time is at 4:00 p.m.
