Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson softball junior Lisa Bilski (Forest Hill/Fallston) went 3-for-8 with five RBIs and a two-run homer as the Mustangs reached the 20-win plateau for the second consecutive season, posting two come-from-behind victories over Washington (Md.) on Monday at Weinberg-Fine Stadium, 4-3 and 7-3.
Stevenson (20-17-1) posted its sixth win in the last eight overall and the first back-to-back 20-win seasons in school history after the team won a school record 23 games a year ago.
Senior Julianne Roper (Baltimore/Western Tech) earned the victory in both contests, pushing her single-season record to 16 while picking up the 35th of her career, surpassing the previous school record of 34 set by Sarah Moelter from 2007-10. Roper already holds the school records for strikeouts and innings pitched.
The Mustangs trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth of game one until Bilski tied the game with her fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to left.
The Shorewomen (20-18) would go back in front with an unearned run in the top of the seventh before Stevenson mounted a two-out rally in the bottom of the inning.
Junior Brittani Rynkowski (Hampstead/North Carroll), who was named CAC Player of the Week on Monday, singled to right and then stole second to advance into scoring position. Bilski extended the inning after reaching base on a fielding error that moved Rynkowski to third before sophomore Sara DiMeglio (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) tied the game with an RBI single to center scoring Rynkowski and moving Bilski to third.
Senior Desirae Sullivan (Severna Park/Severna Park) then drove in the game-winning run with a single to center, giving Stevenson a 4-3 walk-off victory.
It was the second walk-off victory of the season for the Mustangs after freshman Lindsay Kuczak (Bel Air/C. Milton Wright) hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh of a 5-4 victory over Catholic at home on March 21.
It was also the seventh one-run victory of the season for Stevenson.
Bilksi finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs while Rynkowski was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Sullivan was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Leigh Carbutt went 2-for-4 with one RBI for Washington while Brittany Walter set the school record for strikeouts in a season with six. She now has 73.
In game two, the Mustangs fell behind 3-0 after three thanks to Shaelan Nottingham's first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the second.
With darkness becoming a factor, Stevenson began its comeback with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three runs, including two on a single up the middle by Bilski who later scored on an RBI single by DiMeglio.
The Mustangs put the game out of reach with a four-run sixth, highlighted by a two-run single by Rynkowski and another RBI single by Sullivan.
Rynkowski finished the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs to extend her hitting streak to a season-best six games. Bilski was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Sullivan and DiMeglio each were 2-for-4 with one RBI.
The top five spots in the order combined to go 11-for-20 with all seven runs driven in.
Roper earned her 16th win of the season after entering in relief of freshman Meagan Sumwalt (Linthicum Heights/Catholic) in the third and allowing just one hit while holding the Shorewomen scoreless for the final 4.1 innings.
Lindsey Glascock was 2-for-4 to lead Washington.
The Mustangs, who are unbeaten in six of their last eight at home, wrap-up the 2011 season on Wednesday when they host Albright beginning at 3:30 p.m. The team will honor its three seniors, Roper, Sullivan and Jessica Bandzwolek (Fallston/Fallston) in a ceremony following the doubleheader.
