WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis duo of senior Ben Petasky (Pikesville/Pikesville) and freshman Brian Bollman (Gaithersburg/Northwest) posted the Mustangs' lone victory at No. 1 doubles in an 8-1 loss at McDaniel Monday at the Warfield Tennis Courts.
The loss was the fifth in the last six on the road for Stevenson (5-12) and its second-straight against the Green Terror.
Petasky and Bollman posted their third win in the last four matches as a doubles tandem and second in the last three at No. 1 singles. The duo is now 3-5 overall this season.
McDaniel (7-11) swept all six singles matches to clinch the victory and snap a three-match losing streak and a four-game home skid. All six matches were decided in straight sets.
At No. 3 doubles, the team of senior Randy Speck (Glen Burnie/Old Mill) and junior Matt Hartley (Baltimore) teammed up for the first team all season in dropping an 8-0 decision to Brian Kron and Sam Morris. For Hartley, it was his first appearance of the season in either singles or doubles.
Senior Kevin Stamm (Hollywood/Leonardtown) and junior Shawn Kelley (Weltersbach, Germany/Ramstein American) were edged at No. 2 doubles, 8-6 by Justin Ward and Steve French while Stamm battled at No. 6 singles before falling to Matthew Langsdale 6-4, 6-3.
