SALISBURY, Md. - Krissy Leber's pinch-hit RBI-single with one out in the bottom of the eighth gave Mary Washington a 5-4 victory over the Stevenson softball team Saturday in the quarterfinals of the CAC Softball Championship at the Henry S. Park Athletic Complex.
Highlighted by a two-run double from senior Desirae Sullivan (Severna Park/Severna Park), the Mustangs (15-16-1) rallied from a 4-1 deficit with a three-run seventh to force extra innings.
Junior Lisa Bilski (Forest Hill/Fallston) started the comeback with an RBI-single that scored junior Kristin Urban (Timonium/Mercy) after she led off the seventh with a single.
The Eagles (19-20) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a three-run homer by Amanda Adams with two outs before Stevenson got on the board in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly from junior Brittany Rynkowski (Hampstead/North Carroll).
Senior Julianne Roper (Baltimore/Western Tech) suffered the loss after allowing five earned runs over 7.1 innings while striking out seven. She had allowed just one earned run in 13.0 innings during Stevenson's first two tournament games.
Sullivan finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Bilski went 2-for-5 with one RBI and Urban was 2-for-4. Freshman Amanda Mittelstetter (Baltimore/Western Tech) was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Stevenson was 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base.
Adams went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and three RBIs for Mary Washington while Morgan Lamon was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
The Mustangs conclude the regular season with eight non-conference games beginning Tuesday at Randolph-Macon. First pitch is at 3:30 p.m.
