Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Stevenson women's lacrosse senior Megan Weiss (Odenton/Seton) totaled six points, including four goals, both season-highs, as the Mustangs wrapped up their CAC regular season schedule with a 20-4 road victory at Hood Wednesday at Thomas Athletic Complex.
The win was the fourth-straight for Stevenson (10-5, 6-2 CAC) who secured the No. 2 seed and a first round bye in next week's CAC Women's Lacrosse Championship. As a result, the team will host a semifinal contest next Tuesday, April 19.
The Mustangs also posted their fourth consecutive 10-win season, improving their record to 43-23 during that time.
For Weiss, it was her third six-point game of the season and the 10th of her career with at least four goals. She totaled all six of her points in the first half as Stevenson built a 12-2 halftime lead after outshooting the Blazers, 21-3.
Weiss and junior Laura Grammer (Parkville/Perry Hall) both scored in the game's first seven minutes to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead before Caitlin Lawrence tallied the first of her three goals for Hood to cut the deficit to one.
Weiss then sparked a 5-0 Stevenson run over the next 15 minutes, posting a goal and two assists, as the Mustangs pushed the lead to six at 7-1.
Lawrence then followed with a free position goal before Weiss keyed a second 5-0 Mustang spurt with two goals as they took a 10-goal lead into the break.
Stevenson opened the second half with four-straight goals to take its largest lead of the game as four different players scored to push the advantage to 16-2. A total of 11 different players scored for the Mustangs, including junior Samantha Parker (New Market/Linganore) who netted a career-high four points on two goals and two assists.
Freshman Leah Warner (Pasadena/Northeast) tied a career-high with five points for the third time this season as she had three goals and two assists. Senior Lisa Baker (Westminster/Westminster) also had two goals and two assists.
Freshman Mandy Marston (Baltimore/Institute of Notre Dame) had four caused turnovers while junior Sarah Pincus (New Market/Linganore) added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Junior Jenny Shroeder (Severna Park/Seton Keough) needed to make just three saves to improved her record to 10-3 this season.
Helene Butler made eight saves for the Blazers (4-11, 0-8 CAC) while leading scorer Katie Vu had the team's only other goal.
Stevenson will host the winner of Saturday's first round contest between third-seeded Mary Washington and sixth-seeded Frostburg State.
