Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's volleyball freshman Jon Martin (Warwick, Pa./Warwick) totaled 11 kills and six digs, both game-highs, as the Mustangs posted a 25-11, 25-8, 25-14 victory over Lancaster Bible in their home opener Tuesday at Owings Mills Gymnasium. It was also the NECVA Metro Division opener for both teams.
Stevenson (5-0, 1-0 Metro) totaled 35 kills and a .519 hitting percentage compared to just 13 kills and a minus-.140 hitting percentage for the Chargers who committed 21 attack errors, six service errors and seven reception errors.
The Mustangs dominated the first two sets before the third featured six ties and two lead changes.
Freshman Austin Jacoby (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) totaled six of his seven kills in the first set while posting a .714 hitting percentage and three service aces. Sophomore Kyle Diller (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) also had 10 of his 16 assists.
Stevenson dominated the second set, winning by 17 points after separate 6-0 runs, the last of which sealed the win behind the serve of freshman Pierce Haugh (Phoenix/Boys' Latin). Lancaster Bible also had 12 attack errors and a minus-.417 hitting percentage.
Martin had six kills and three digs in the third set while freshman Adam Thatcher (Bel Air/C. Milton Wright) had 16 assists. Freshman Kalani Soeda (Kaneohe, Hawaii/LeJardin Academy) added four of his seven kills.
Jacoby finished with eight kills and three digs and freshman Eddy Klepper (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had four kills and three total blocks.
Jake Clemenson and A.J. Longacre each had three kills and three digs for Lancaster Bible (0-5, 0-1 Metro).
