(Baltimore/Western Tech) and freshman Liz Moul
(Hanover, Pa./Southwestern) combined for a three-hit
shutout in game one while sophomore Brittani
Rynkowski (Hampstead/North Carroll) was 5-for-5 in
game two as the Stevenson softball team swept a doubleheader with
Notre Dame (Md.) Wednesday at Harford Community College, 10-0 and
16-0.
The Mustangs (23-14) extended their winning streak to a
season-high five games with their third consecutive shutout as they
have not allowed a run in the last 20 innings.
In game one, Stevenson scored six unearned runs as the result of
six Gator errors, including two in the first inning to take a 2-0
lead as junior Desirae
Sullivan (Severna Park/Severna Park) and sophomore
Lisa
Bilski (Forest Hill/Fallston) scored on a two-out
fielding error by Notre Dame third baseman Cara Cosaro.
The Mustangs, who scored 10 runs on just six hits, added four
more runs in the second, including three on RBIs by freshman
Sara
DiMeglio (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood), junior
Jessica Bandzwolek (Fallston/Fallston) and Moul.
Bandzwolek added a second RBI in the fourth before Stevenson
sealed the win with a three-run fifth, two of which came on an RBI
double by Sullivan.
Bandzwolek was 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs while
Sullivan went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Roper scattered three hits and two walks over three innings to
pick up her ninth win while Moul made her first appearance of the
season in the circle, retiring all six batters she faced over the
fourth and fifth innings with one strikeout.
Senior Sarah Moelter
(Timonium/Dulaney) was the story in game two as she earned
her 13th win of the season, adding to her school record, allowing
just two hits and striking out two over two innings while totaling
two hits and four RBIs at the plate.
Moelter had a two, two-run singles in the first and third
separated by a two-run homer in the second by Sullivan as Stevenson
led 11-0 after three innings.
Sullivan also added a two-run double in the fourth and finished
2-for-4 with four RBIs. She now has 44 runs driven in this season
and now is in sole possession atop the school's single season list.
She also pitched 3.0 innings of relief, striking out six.
Freshman Carianne
Sullivan (Westminster/Westminster) finished 2-for-3
with three RBIs while Bilski was 1-for-2 with two runs and two
RBIs.
The Mustangs return to action on Thursday when they conclude the
regular season at home versus Frostburg State. First pitch is at
3:30 p.m.
