OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Led by seniors Geoff Hebert (Lutherville/Dulaney) and Steve Kazimer (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger), the No. 3-ranked Stevenson men's lacrosse team advanced to its third-straight CAC title game with a 16-3 victory over St. Mary's (Md.) Wednesday in the semifinals of the CAC Men's Lacrosse Championship at Caves Athletics Complex.

With the win, Stevenson (15-1) will face 15-time defending CAC champion and No. 1 Salisbury Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium for the fifth time in the last two seasons and third consecutive year in the conference championship game.

Making his first appearance since suffering a broken finger in a 12-9 win at No. 18 Lynchburg on March 20, Hebert totaled a career-high 17 saves, including 11 in the first half as the Mustangs built a 6-1 halftime lead.

Meanwhile, Kazimer scored four of his eight points in the half on three goals and one assist as Stevenson broke open a 1-1 tie with five second quarter goals, four of which involved Kazimer. He finished the game with five goals and three assists.

Kazimer, who scored his 100th career goal in last Thursday's 24-6 win over York (Pa.), now has 228 career points, 31 behind Eric Schmith's career record. With 109 goals, Kazimer is also 14 goals shy of moving past Schmith into second place on the school's career goals list behind junior Richie Ford (Baltimore/Towson) who now has 142.

The Mustangs also won seven of nine first half face-offs and held a 22-14 advantage in shots.

Senior Mike Gustowarow (Annapolis/DeMatha) opened the second half scoring just 1:07 into the third quarter with his second goal of the season and the third of his career off an assist from junior Jake Stocksdale (Westminster/Winters Mill).

Gustowarow finished with a goal, four ground balls and three caused turnovers while Stocksdale totaled a career-high three points with one goal and two assists.

Hebert, Gustowarow and junior Ian Hart (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley), who had three ground balls and three caused turnovers, led a defensive effort that forced 28 turnovers, 17 of which were caused, and limited the Seahawks to just its lowest goal total of the season.

In addition, reigning CAC Player of the Week Dennis Rosson, who had five goals and one assist against the Mustangs on April 13, was held to just three shots while committing three turnovers.

Juniors Neal Barthelme (Towson/Dulaney) and Jimmy Dailey (Westminster/Winters Mill) each had four points with Barthelme totaling three goals, extending his goal streak to five games during which he has scored 15 of his 25 goals this season.

Dailey now has 192 career points on 96 goals and 96 assists, eight points shy of becoming the fourth player in school history to score 200, four goals short of being the fourth with 100 and foru assists from becoming the third with 100.

Stu Wheeler led St. Mary's (9-6) with 15 saves after also totaling 11 in the first half.

Game time for Saturday's CAC title game will be determined on Thursday.
