OWINGS MILLS, Md. - A solo home run to left
center by Stevenson softball sophomore Lisa Bilski (Forest
Hill/Fallston) to lead off the bottom of the seventh
capped two, three-run comebacks as the Mustangs won game two of a
non-conference doubleheader with McDaniel Friday at Weinberg-Fine
Stadium, 7-6.
The home run was the first of the season for Bilski and the
fifth of her career, giving Stevenson (12-8) a split after the
Green Terror won the first game, 3-0.
Bilski, the 2009 CAC Rookie of the Year finished the game
2-for-3 with one RBI as the Mustangs rallied from a 3-0
second-inning deficit and a 6-3 margin in the bottom of the fifth.
She currently leads the team with a .467 average this season and is
fourth with 13 RBIs.
Freshman Sara DiMeglio (Spotswood,
N.J./Spotswood) was 1-for-3 with a two-run single that was
part of a three-run fifth to tie the game at 6-6.
Stevenson also scored three runs in the second following three
consecutive RBIs from junior Kelly Dorsey
(Baltimore/Catonsville), sophomore Brittani
Rynkowski (Hampstead/North Carroll) and sophomore
Caitlin Kwedar (Hampstead/Delone) after McDaniel
scored three in the top of the inning.
Juniors Desirae Sullivan (Severna Park/Severna
Park) and Jessica Bandzwolek
(Fallston/Fallston) also had two hits for the Mustangs
with Bandzwolek adding an RBI single to start the rally in the
fifth.
Junior Julianne Roper (Baltimore/Western Tech)
picked up her sixth win of the season after scattering 10 hits over
seven innings while allowing just four earned runs. She also struck
out three.
In the first game, the Green Terror (11-9) scored the only run
they would need off a Stevenson error in the top of the first when
Erinne Warrenfeltz scored with two outs.
McDaniel added two more runs in the fifth on RBIs by Lauren
Wildasin and Beth Anne Fusco.
Stevenson senior Sarah Moelter
(Timonium/Dulaney) suffered the loss despite allowing only
seven hits and two earned runs over seven innings while Ashley
Meister won her sixth in eight decisions this season after holding
the Mustangs to just three hits and three walks over seven.
Three different players had one hit for Stevenson, including
Bilski, Rynkowski and freshman Carianne Sullivan
(Westminster/Westminster).
The Mustangs conclude their six-game homestand on Monday with a
CAC doubleheader against Gallaudet. First pitch is at 3:30 p.m.
