WASHINGTON, D.C. - A total of six players scored three goals each for the Stevenson women's lacrosse team, including sophomore Spencer Kraus (Mt. Airy/South Carroll) who also added three assists for six points as the Mustangs posted an 18-13 road win at No. 7 Catholic Saturday at Cardinal Stadium.

The win was the fourth in five road contests this season for the Mustangs (7-2) who concluded a five-game road trip. They also avenged last season's 12-11 loss to the 13th-ranked Cardinals at home and earned their first victory in the last 13 games versus a ranked opponent.

Kraus totaled a career-high in points for the second time in the last three games with six. She tied her previous best with four goals in an 11-10 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Monday.

Sophomore Kelli Battista (Elkridge/Long Reach) also tied a career-high in both goals and points.

Junior Lisa Baker (Westminster/Westminster) totaled five points on three goals and two assists while senior Kristyna Hnizda (Manchester/North Carroll) added three goals and one assist.

Senior Lauren Zegowitz (Gaithersburg/Damascus) totaled three goals and now has 185 career points, only one shy of Heather Valunas' eight-year old record. Zegowitz is also second behind Valunas with 131 career goals, 20 shy of the record.

The Mustangs led for the majority of the game, beginning just 1:02 into it after an unassisted tally by Hnizda.

Both teams exchanged goals for the first 10 minutes before Stevenson broke the game's fourth tie at 4-4 with four of the next five goals to take the game's largest lead at 8-5.

The Mustangs led 10-8 at halftime, but Catholic (1-3) came back to tie the game at 11-11 on Meghan Brady's fourth goal of the contest with 15:58 left.

However, Stevenson finished the game by scoring seven of the final nine goals, including three from junior Megan Weiss (Odenton/Seton). Kraus also had one goal and two assists during that span.

Sophomore Jenny Schroeder (Severna Park/Seton Keough) made 10 saves, totaling five in each half.

Brady led the Cardinals with five goals while Mary Swarthout also had five points with two goals and three assists. Melissa Brashear and Geb Sena combined for six saves.

Stevenson returns home for the first time since March 2 when it hosts a non-conference contest with Wellesley on Tuesday at Caves Athletics Complex beginning at 4:00 p.m.
