TOWSON, Md. - Stevenson women's lacrosse sophomore Jenny Schroeder (Severna Park/Seton Keough) made 13 saves, including eight in the second half, while senior Lauren Zegowitz (Gaithersburg/Damascus) had four goals and two assists in a 16-11 victory over Ursinus Saturday evening at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium.

The win marked the first 3-0 start for Stevenson (3-0) under fifth-year head coach Kathy Railey who won her 100th career game on Wednesday at York (Pa.).

With six points, Zegowitz moved past Laura Higgs for second on the school's career points list with 168. She is also second in career goals with 120 and trails Heather Valunas' all-time records by 18 points and 31 goals.

Making its season debut, Ursinus (0-1) scored four of the game's first six goals to take a two-goal lead less than nine minutes in.

However, Zegowitz scored her second goal of the game at 19:09 to start a 6-0 run for the Mustangs who took an 8-4 advantage and never trailed again. Zegowitz and senior Kristyna Hnizda (Manchester/North Carroll) each scored three goals in first half as Stevenson built a 9-6 lead at halftime.

Elizabeth Cannon and Elizabeth Chatburn each scored to start the second half for the Bears as they pulled within one at 22:56 before Zegowitz tallied her fourth of the game only 31 seconds later that started a quick 3-0 spurt. She had a hand in two of the three goals as Stevenson pushed its lead back to four, 12-8.

The Mustangs scored seven of the game's final 10 goals and benefited from 11 Urinus turnovers and the team's 1-of-8 performance on clears.

Hnizda finished with four goals while junior Lisa Baker (Westminster/Westminster) added two goals and one assist. Sophomore Kelli Battista (Elkridge/Long Reach) also had two goals.

Allison Furman and Emily Diehl each totaled three points for the Bears while Alex McBride had 11 saves.

Stevenson returns to action on Tuesday when they host a CAC contest with Wesley at Caves Athletics Complex beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Mustangs currently sit atop the conference standings, one game ahead of No. 3-ranked Salisbury.
