HARRISONBURG, Va. - Eastern Mennonite totaled
41 kills and nine total blocks while posting a .274 hitting
percentage as the Royals won their second game in the last eight
days over Stevenson with a 30-22, 30-23, 30-19 victory Wednesday
night at University Commons.
Eastern Mennonite (4-4, 3-0 NECVA West) managed to overcome 18
service errors to remain unbeaten in conference play, half-a-game
behind No. 6-ranked Philadelphia Biblical.
Meanwhile, Stevenson (7-5, 2-4 NECVA West) totaled 27 attack
errors and 10 service errors in losing its fifth-straight.
Sophomore Jason Matkowski (Warminster, Pa./William
Tennent) had 13 of the Mustangs' 24 kills and was the only
player to finish with a positive attack percentage.
Senior David Lloyd (Germantown/Seneca Valley)
and freshmen Kyler Diller (Chambersburg,
Pa./Chambersburg) and Christian Woznicki
(Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) all had a team-high five digs.
Diller also had six assists while sophomore Dean Massimini
(Washington Township, N.J./Washington Township) had 12.
During the team's five-game losing streak, Stevenson has lost
three to teams in the top 10 of the AVCA Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll
and four to the top two teams in the NECVA Western Division. The
team has also totaled 129 attack errors compared to 132 kills as
well as 40 service errors and 36 reception errors.
Colten New had 10 kills for Eastern Mennonite while Cody Kennedy
added nine. Nolan Prock totaled a game-high seven digs.
Stevenson looks to snap its losing streak on Saturday when it
travels to Mount Saint Vincent for a tri-match with the Dolphins
and Lehman.
