YORK, Pa. - Sophomore Jimmy Dailey
(Westminster/Winter Mills) totaled five goals and eight
points, both season-highs, to lead the Stevenson University men's
lacrosse team to its first-ever victory as the nation's No.
1-ranked team with an 18-7 road victory at York (Pa.)
Wednesday afternoon.
The Mustangs (10-0, 4-0 CAC) have now won 13-straight overall
and six consecutive in the conference.
Dailey, who was one of 10 players name to the Division III
Player of the Year watchlist by Inside Lacrosse on March
24, finished just two points shy of his career-high set in a
16-6 victory over Mary Washington on Apr. 17, 2007 when he had
three goals and seven assists.
Earlier this season, Dailey totaled four goals and seven points
in the team's 16-6 victory over then-No. 2 Gettysburg on March 4.
With Stevenson leading 4-2, Dailey totaled three goals and three
assists as the Mustangs scored nine of the game's next 11
goals to take a 12-4 lead, capped by his fourth goal with 10:31
left in the third quarter.
Junior Steve Kazimer (Syracuse,
N.Y./Henninger), who is tied with Dailey for the team lead
in points with 20 goals and 20 assists, finished the game with
three goals and four points. Two of his goals were assisted by
Dailey while his assist came on Dailey's first goal with 8:04
remaining in the first quarter.
Junior Richie Ford (Baltimore/Towson) totaled
five points on two goals and three assists while sophomore
Drew Brady (Newton Square, Pa./Penncrest) netted a
career-high three goals.
Stevenson outscored the Spartans 12-4 over the second and third
quarters while outshooting them 28-18, winning 11-of-17 faceoffs
and converting all three extra-man opportunities.
Junior Geoff Hebert (Lutherville/Dulaney)
finished with seven saves in 51 minutes while senior Chris
Carroll (Deale/Southern) made one in the final nine
minutes.
Ryan Mcnicholas led York (5-6, 3-3 CAC) with two goals.
Adam Cooper and Ryan Schab each added one goal and one assist.
Chris Collins had 11 saves.
For Stevenson, Wednesday's win sets up Saturday's showdown on
the road at No. 4 Salisbury. The Mustangs will put its 13-game win
streak and perfect season on the line while the Sea Gulls will look
to extend its unbeaten conference record to 106 games.
