STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson University men's
tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2008-09 schedule on
Tuesday, dropping its first dual match of the season to CAC rival
York (Pa.), 9-0 on the Greenspring campus.
The Mustangs' best chance for a win came at No. 2 singles where
freshman Ted Cooke (Snow Hill/Snow Hill) battled
Paul Graci in the first set before losing 7-5, 6-2.
Cooke then teammed with senior Korey Garner
(Mechanicsville/Leonardtown) at No. 2 doubles where the
duo fell 8-3 to Jeff Mansfield and Joel Trimmer.
Garner and sophomore Ben Petasky
(Baltimore/Pikesville) each battled at No. 3 and No. 5
singles, respectively, before both fell by the score of 6-3, 6-2.
Petasky and sophomore Randy Speck (Glen Burnie/Old
Mill) also fell by an 8-3 margin at No. 3 doubles.
Stevenson returns to action on Thursday when it hosts a CAC
match with Hood beginning at 3:30 p.m.
