ASHLAND, Va. - Stevenson University softball
freshmen Brittany Rynkowski (Hampstead/North
Carroll) and Lisa Bilski (Forest
Hill/Fallston) each totaled three hits, including two
apiece in game two as the Mustangs split a non-conference
doubleheader at Randolph-Macon Tuesday, winning the second
game 5-2 after losing game one, 9-1.
The split was the second in the last three days for the Mustangs
(3-5) against a team from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference
after they won game two of a doubleheader at Sweet Briar on Sunday,
4-3.
Junior Stacey Rouse (Catonsville/Mount de
Sales) also had two hits for Stevenson in the victory,
going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, both coming on a two-run double in the
top of the sixth to seal the team's second victory out the last
three games.
Stevenson jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third after
an RBI-single by Rynkowski in the first and an RBI-single and
sacrifice bunt by Bilski and junior Sarah Moelter
(Timonium/Dulaney), respectively, in the third.
In the circle, sophomore Julieanne Roper
(Baltimore/Western Tech) earned the win, limiting the
Yellow Jackets to just two runs on six hit while striking out four.
In the first game, Randolph-Macon (4-3) blew open a 3-1 lead
with six runs on eight hits over the final two innings to
invoke the eight-run rule with two outs in the bottom of the
seventh.
Moelter held the Yellow Jackets to three runs on three hits over
the first four innings before leaving the game trailing 7-1 with
one out in the seventh.
Megan Shepherd went 3-for-3 with four runs and three RBIs for
Randolph-Macon while Katie Raulerson picked up her fourth win
in as many starts this season after allowing only one run on two
hits over five innings.
Bilski went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in the fifth for
Stevenson's only run. She was one of four Mustangs to register a
hit in the game.
The Mustangs open CAC play on Thursday at Gallaudet beginning at
2:30 p.m.
