ANNVILLE, Pa. - Stevenson field hockey
sophomore Kara Zimmerman (Odenton/Arundel) totaled
a career-high 28 saves, including 20 in the first half, in a 7-0
loss at No. 7-ranked Lebanon Valley on Saturday at LVC Stadium.
Zimmerman's 28 saves are the third-most in school
history set by Mary Trautner on Sept. 3, 2000 in a 6-0 loss at
Division II Indiana (Pa.). Denise Ocasio also had 34 saves on Sept.
27, 2001 in a 3-2 victory at Goucher in a game that was decided on
penalty strokes.
Krista Oliver had 29 on Oct. 13, 1996 in a 6-3 loss versus
Kenyon in the Sweet Briar Tournament.
The Dutchmen (9-1), who have won eight-straight since a 4-3 loss
at Mary Washington on September 5, totaled 54 shots, including 26
in the first half where they held a 26-0 margin.
Lebanon Valley also held a 17-0 edge in penalty corners in the
opening half, but were limited to just three goals thanks to
Zimmerman whose previous career-high in saves was 13, a mark she
eclipsed in the first 15 minutes of Saturday's game.
Danielle Blase led the Dutchmen with two goals and one assist
while Jocelyn Novak added two goals.
During its eight-game win streak, Lebanon Valley has outscored
its opponents 45-7 and in 10 games this season, holds a 54-11
advantage.
Zimmerman's 28 saves came in just over 52 minutes before
sophomore Megan Sadowski (Fallston/Fallston)
totaled a career-high over the final 18.
Stevenson returns to action on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m., game at
home versus Drew.
