Owings Mills, MD - #12 ranked Villa Julie (8-2, 4-0)
conquered conference foe York (6-6, 2-4) with a score of
19-5. The Mustangs out-shot the Spartans 51 to 21 and won 18
of 27 face-offs.
Villa opened the scoring for the game with 5:26 remaining in the
first quarter with a goal by Steve Kazimer
assisted by Evan Douglass. It was followed
by two more Mustang goals from Richard Ford and
Chris Baldwin to end the quarter leading 3-0.
Greg Furshman assisted by Chris
Baldwin scored the first goal of the second quarter.
He was followed by a goal from Kevin Donnelly
before York made an appearance on the scoreboard at 10:29 with two
consecutive goals. After another goal from Villa and then
York, the Mustangs went on a five goal run to end the half with a
score of 11-3.
Villa continued their run with five additional goals before York
scored at the 3:54 mark. Villa's Ryan Bragg
added one more to end the third quarter 17-4.
As all of the Mustangs had an opportunity to play, York tallied
one final goal while the Mustangs added two.
Villa was led by Ford with four goals and two
assists. Also contributing to the Mustang win were
Kazimer with three goals and two assists;
Donnelly with three goals;
Baldwin with two goals and two assists;
Furshman and Drew Brady each with
two goals; Shane Clift,
Dustin Harlowe, and Bragg with
one goal each; Nicola Bevecqua led the team with
three assists; and Douglass added one assist.
The Mustangs return to their home field on Saturday, April
5th, to take on the undefeated Salisbury Seagulls at 2
pm.
