Owings Mills, MD.- The Villa Julie Mustangs
men's lacrosse team hosted CAC opponent Hood College on the
Mustangs senior day, honoring 13 senior athletes. Seniors honored
before game time included: Matthew Miller (Denver,
CO/. George Washington), Justin Donoghue (Joppa,
MD/ Joppatowne), Jonathan Criggar (Olney, MD/
Sherwood), Matthew Healy (Harrisburg, PA/
Harrisburg), Seth Hidey (Sykesville, MD/
South Carroll), Brooks Beaty (Pasadena, MD/
Northeast), Andrew White (Cockeysville, MD/
Loyola), Robert Guill (Clifton, VA/ Westfield),
Jeff Paul (Bel Air, MD/ C. Milton Wright),
Ian Bohager (Towson, MD/ Calvert Hall),
Brent Hidey (Sykesville, MD/ Century), Dan
Petty (Street, MD/ North Hartford), and Bradley
Bartkowiak (White Hall, MD/ John Carroll).
The Mustangs took full advantage of their special day and
dominated the field to a 27-1 win over the Blazers. All three
of the Mustang goalies participated in today's game.
Kevin Donnelly (Laurel, MD/ St. Vincent Palotti)
led the team scoring with eight goals.
The Mustangs went up 3-0 in the first period. They
continued on their run to 13-0 in the second period. Hood
scored their lone goal in the third period to make the score
23-1. The Mustangs scored four more goals in the fourth
period to win the game. Villa Julie outshot the Blazers 72 to
13. They also picked up 50 groundballs and won 23 out of 31
faceoffs.
Scoring for the Mustangs was Donnelly with
eight goals and one groundball; Hidey with four
goals; Jimmy Dailey (Westminster, MD/ Winter
Mills) with three goals; Miller, David
Jenks (Ft. Myers, FL/ Cypress Lakes), and Chris
Baldwin (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) each had two
goals; Beaty, Donoghue,
Paul, and Shane Clift
(Westminster, MD/ North Carroll) each scored one goal for the
day.
Today's win pushes the Mustangs' record to 9-3 overall and 7-1
in the CAC. The #2 CAC Mustangs will host the first round of
the CAC tournament on Tuesday, April 17, against #7 CAC Mary
Washington. The time is TBA.
