Lynchburg Hands Mustangs Second Loss of Season

Owings Mills, Md.- The Mustangs hosted Lynchburg (7-0) where they took a loss, 13-10.  Villa Julie's record falls to 6-2.

Lynchburg took an immediate lead, scoring the first goal at the 14:45 mark followed by three more before the 12:10 mark.  An unassisted Chris Baldwin (Baltimore, MD / Calvert Hall HS / USNA) put the Mustangs on the board at 11:25.  Lynchburg managed two more goals before the end of the first period, 6-1.  Lynchburg outshot Villa Julie 16 to 7 for the period.

The second period was the turning point for the Mustangs.  Jimmy Dailey (Westminster, MD / Winter Mills HS) scored at the 14:49 mark from a pass by Matt Miller (Denver, CO / George Washington HS / Essex CC).  Andrew White (Cockeysville, MD / Loyola HS) soon followed with a goal assisted by Baldwin.  After the 6:41 mark, the Mustangs tallied four more goals by Baldwin assisted by White, Dailey assisted by Baldwin, Dustin Harlowe (Golden Beach, MD/ St. Mary's Ryken HS) unassisted, and Zach Walsh (Reisterstown, MD / Loyola HS) unassisted.  Lynchburg did not manage any goals as the Mustangs took 18 shots to Lynchburg's three.  The half ended with the Mustangs in the lead, 7-6.

Lynchburg's Austin Jeter scored twice before Walsh put a shot in the net at 8:54 assisted by Dailey.  Lynchburg grabbed another goal before Dailey scored the last for the third period.  The third period ended tied at 9-9.

Lynchburg took control of the final period, scoring four goals.  Dailey scored the lone goal for the Mustangs at 5:08 with the assist from White

Dailey led the Mustangs with four goals and one assist.  Greg Freshman (Miami, FL / Towson University) won 13 of 17 face-offs and grabbed eight groundballs.  Defensively, Nicholas Mueller (Timonium, MD / St. Paul's School) caused four Lynchburg turnovers while Zach Clark (Pasadena, MD / Chesapeake HS) caused three.  Goalie Jason Woodford (Timonium, MD / Delaney HS / Drew) tallied 16 saves.

The Mustangs took 53 shots compared to Lynchburg's 38.  The Mustangs also tallied 36 groundballs to their 24 and won 19 of the 26 face-offs.  Villa Julie returns to the field on Saturday, March 31 as they host Wesley at 3:00 p.m.
