Players Honored On Senior Day

OWINGS MILLS, MD - On Senior Day, the Mustangs fell to a strong offensive performance from Frostburg State University. Frostburg went ahead early in the game and never looked back, winning 5-1. A combination between two freshmen led to the Mustangs lone goal. The goal was scored by Jennifer Sauers (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) off an assist from Katelyn Manocheh (Baldwin, MD/Maryvale).

Before the game, Coach Railey honored the 3 graduating seniors for their accomplishments and dedication to Mustang field hockey.

#4 - Becky Spadaccini came to us from Felton, DE and Polytech. Becky played 4 years of field hockey at VJC, starting 9 games and playing 36 games in her career. Becky scored her 1st career goal a few weeks ago against nationally ranked Lebanon Valley College. Becky is also currently ranked 5th in shot % for the 2007 season. According to Coach Railey, Becky is a hard worker in every aspect of her life, as a great student, a great teammate and a wonderful leader.

#22 - Cat Connelly came to us from Fallston, MD and Fallston High School. Cat played three seasons as a starter for the Mustangs and is valued as one of the Capital Athletic Conference's top midfielders. Cat was named honorable mention CAC player of the week in mid-September and leads the team in minutes played for the 2007 season.  So far in 2007, she has 2 goals and 1 assist and is ranked 3rd in shots. Coach Railey describes Cat as one of the most technically sound field hockey players she has ever worked with and a joy to coach.

#8 - Jamie Jones came to us from Glen Burnie, MD and Glen Burnie High School. Jamie did not play until this season but has made a strong impact on the team. Jamie is a very versatile player who has played every position from forward line to defensive back. Jamie has been in 11 games this season. According to Coach Railey, Jamie is a wonderful person and player with well-rounded skills. A player that never seems to tire, and adds fire to every drill and game.

The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday 24th October when they travel to face non-conference opponent and local rival Goucher College. The game is scheduled for a 4pm start. The Mustangs next home game will be in the CAC tournament when they host the University of Mary Washington at Owings Mills on Sunday 28th October.
