Shera Vis

Vis, a former assistant coach at Elmira College and four-yearletter winner at Division I Minnesota State, returns for her secondseason as the head women's ice hockey coach at Stevenson.

In the program's first season, the Mustangs finished 6-15-1,with the program's first win coming on October 27, 2013 with a 4-1victory over Buffalo State.

Vis comes from Elmira College where she spent two seasons as anassistant coach and head junior varsity coach from 2009-11. Duringthat time, the Soaring Eagles had a record of 40-13-3 and won the2010 ECAC West Championship.

The Soaring Eages are the only program in NCAA history, in allsports, to start a sport and win a national championship in thesame year. Elmira won the 2002 and 2003 NCAA Division III Women'sIce Hockey Championship as well as back-to-back ECAC West titles,totaling a two-year record of 49-5-3.

A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Vis was a four-year letterwinner at Division I Minnesota State. She ranks sixth in schoolhistory with 136 career games, totaling 48 points on 23 goals and25 assists from 2003-07. She was a three-time scholar-athlete, teamcaptain as a senior and recipient of the team's Most ImprovedPlayer Award in 2006.

Vis also received the Tiffany Searles Award, given to theall-around student-athlete, the Daniel L. Mundahl Community ServiceAward and the Maverick Achievement Award for possessing a 3.5 GPAor higher.

A 2007 graduate of Minnesota State with a bachelor of sciencedegree in physical education teaching, Vis has served as anassistant girls' hockey coach for Mankato East High School,M.A.H.A. U10 and Northern Hawks AAA where she was responsible forthe evaluation of players at tryouts, execution of practices,establishment of systematic on-ice play and coordinating on and office strength and conditioning training.

Vis also has experience as a physical education teacher andsubstitute teacher and has worked for M.A.H.A hockey camps and theRick St. Croix Goalie School. She also received her master’sdegree from Elmira.
