Cohen is a USPTA certified tennis professional who is enteringhis fourth year as the head men's tennis coach at Stevensonfor the 2010-11 academic year and third as the women'shead coach.
In his first season as the women's coach, Cohenimproved a team that had a 1-14 record in 2008to 5-12-1 in 2009 while competing in thehighly-regarded CAC.
The men's team has qualified for the CAC Men's TennisChampionship during each of its three previous seasons in the CAC,earning the right to host the first round as the fourth-seed inboth 2009 and 2010.
Stevenson has produced two All-CAC selections under Cohen,including Korey Garner in 2008 and Ted Cooke in 2010. Cooke wasalso the first Mustang to earn CAC Player of the Week honors onApr. 20, 2010.
In addition to Stevenson, Cohen also works as the Director ofPlayer Development at Greenspring Racquet Club in Lutherville wherehe works with many of the junior players at the club teaching groupand private lessons. He assists with the Competitive TrainingCenter and runs junior and adult tournaments.
Cohen has also worked junior tennis camps atPepperdine and Salisbury. At Pepperdine, he had the chance towork for Adam Steinberg who led the Waves to the 2006 NCAA DivisionI national championship.
Cohen is an active player in the USTA Mid-Atlantic section,participating in open tournaments and leagues. In January 2011,Cohen was a member of the Greenspring Racquet Club's USTA Tri-Levelteam that won the Mid-Atlantic Sectional and qualified fornationals in Indian Wells, California in conjunction with the BNPParibas Open. Cohen's team finished fifth out 16 teams and he went2-1 while partnering with assistant coach Jason Goldman-Petri.
In 2007, Cohen graduated with a bachelor's degree in computerinformation systems from Stevenson where he holds the schoolrecords with 39 singles victories and 36 double victories. Athree-year captain, he played four seasons for the Mustangs atNo. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, leading the team to NEACchampionships in 2006 and 2007.
Cohen also spent four years as the men's tennis representativeon the Stevenson Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, serving aspresident as a senior. As such, he represented Stevenson atSAAC meetings for the Maryland Association of CollegeDirectors of Athletics meetings and the NEAC.
