Tom has written post-game stories for the Stevenson men’s and women’s golf, tennis, cross country, and track and field teams since 2014.
McGonigal previously served as the interim head track and field coach for the Mustangs during the 2013 and 2014 seasons (assistant during the 2014 outdoor season). He also served as a volunteer assistant for the cross country team in 2012 and as an assistant coach in 2013.
A 2005 graduate of Stevenson (Villa Julie College) with a bachelor’s degree in business communications, McGonigal competed on both the cross country and track and field teams. Since then, he has run in numerous local running events, including three half marathons - with a personal record of 1:29 - and two full marathons with a personal best of 3:29.
McGonigal received his master's degree in sport administration from Belmont University (Nashville, Tenn.) in December 2006. While attending Belmont, McGonigal served as a promotions intern with the Nashville Sounds Baseball Club and as a sports information intern with the Vanderbilt women’s lacrosse team.
McGonigal currently works as a Communications Assistant at the Annie E. Casey Foundation in Baltimore. Tom is also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and certified coach through the Road Runner’s Club of America.
McGonigal resides in Glen Burnie with his wife Olivia and two children.
