Naila Smith enters her 2nd year with the Mustangs during the 2026-27 season.
Naila Smith joined the Stevenson University athletic training staff in 2026 after earning her Master of Science in Athletic Training from Towson University. Smith brings a diverse clinical background with experience working alongside collegiate, high school, and club sport student-athletes throughout the Baltimore region.
Prior to joining the Mustangs full-time, Smith completed a clinical immersion at Stevenson University, providing athletic training coverage for football, women's ice hockey, men's volleyball, and men's lacrosse. Her responsibilities included injury evaluation, rehabilitation program development, return-to-play progression, taping and bracing application, and collaboration with physicians and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive athlete care.
Smith also gained valuable clinical experience at Mount Saint Joseph High School and Loyola University Club Sports, where she assisted with injury assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic modalities, emergency care, and daily athletic training operations. Before pursuing her graduate degree, she served as an athletic training intern at Chowan University, working with the football and men's basketball programs while earning her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Smith has remained actively involved in the athletic training profession through memberships with the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association (MAATA). She has also participated in numerous professional development opportunities and provided medical coverage at a variety of regional and national sporting events, including the USA Lacrosse National Team Development Program Combine and the Baltimore Running Festival.
Smith earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Chowan University in 2023 and completed her Associate of Arts in Exercise Science at Howard Community College. She is certified in Basic Life Support (CPR/AED) through the American Heart Association.
