Matt Grimm begins his 15th year at Stevenson University in 2026. During his tenure, he has ascended from Director of Club Sports to his current position as Senior Associate Athletic Director, Internal Operations & Recreation.

In his current position, Grimm serves as the Human Resources leader of the department, overseeing the hiring and evaluation of 83 full- and part-time employees. He also plays a significant role in committees focused on operational & personnel budgets, NCAA Compliance, logistics & operations, sport administration, and student-athlete academic support.

During 2026, Grimm helped guide the two most successful Campaigns for Mustang Athletics to date. In total, these fundraising events generated 4,258 donors while raising nearly half a million dollars.

For part of 2025, Grimm served the University as Interim Director of Athletics & Campus Recreation. During this time, he participated on the University Cabinet and met biweekly with the University President.

Over the last six years, he has served as the sport administrator for 14 different NCAA programs: Acrobatics & Tumbling, Baseball, Women’s Beach Volleyball, Men’s & Women’s Cross Country, Football, Men’s & Women’s Ice Hockey, Men’s & Women’s Soccer, Men’s & Women’s Swimming, and Men’s & Women’s Tennis.

In 2021, Grimm was tasked with launching an Acrobatics & Tumbling program. That team has since grown to 21 athletes, meeting NCAA Sports Sponsorship requirements. His extensive work with the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) led him to roles serving on their Awards & Championships Committees.

Prior to focusing on NCAA Athletics, Grimm had a robust tenure in Collegiate Recreation. In 2017, he helped launch the Esports program at Stevenson University. That program now consists of over 30 athletes across five different game titles. Combined, those teams have won four ECAC/NECC Division Championships and one NECC National Championship.

Originally hired in 2012 to build a Club Sports program from the ground up, that area has since transformed into one of the premier small school programs in the country. Club Sports at Stevenson now boasts 10 teams, 180 student-athletes, and 14 paid coaches. During the past 14 years, those teams have appeared in six regional championships and won three national titles. Players in the program have been presented with 16 All-Region awards and three All-American selections.
