Jyair Thomas enters his first season with the Mustangs as the defensive back coach, during the 2026 season.
Thomas most recently served as the safeties and nickels coach at Kutztown University, where he oversaw the development of the position group and managed all aspects of his own room. He was also responsible for recruiting and evaluating prospects within his assigned recruiting area, breaking down game data, assisting with defensive game plans, and preparing scout cards and running scout team.
Prior to Kutztown, Thomas spent the 2025 season at Thiel College as the corners and nickels coach. In addition to his coaching and recruiting responsibilities, he assisted with defensive game planning, game data breakdowns, scout team operations, social media, strength and conditioning, and video coordination.
Thomas also gained professional experience with the Baltimore Ravens, serving as a performance fellow from April 2024 through February 2025. He worked with the strength and conditioning staff and coaches to enhance performance through analysis of offensive and defensive strategies, while also charting offensive plays and studying opponent tendencies to assist with game planning.
A former collegiate defensive back, Thomas played at Lock Haven University in 2023, where he started 10 games as a graduate student at safety and nickel. He previously played at Monmouth University from 2019-22, appearing in 33 games on defense and special teams.
Thomas earned his master's degree from Lock Haven University in 2024 after earning his bachelor's degree from Monmouth University in 2023.
