Renner comes into his first season at Stevenson with a large range of experience, culminating as the Head Coach of the Cross Country and Track & Field programs at McDaniel College, working at the college for over 35 years. At McDaniel, Renner led the Green Ferror to two Centennial Conference Championships and three ECAC Championships.
He has helped individual student-athletes to receive the following accolades: an Olympic Trials Finalist in the men's 10,000 meter run, an NCAA Woman of the Year Finalist, an NCAA post-graduate scholarship recipient, two national champions, 10 All-Region, 35 All-Americans, 55 national qualifiers, 20 conference championship outstanding performers, 142 Centennial Conference Champions, and much more.
Prior to McDaniel, Renner served as the Head Girls' Track & field Coach at Westminster High School from 1980-1988, where he led the team to notch the 1985 Girls' 4A State Track & Field Championship.
Renner is also the founder of the Baltimore Washington Athletic Club, and associate coach for the Bullseye Youth Club.
