Chip Rouse, Athletics Academic Coach, moved from 36 years of faculty experience into Mustang Athletics in 2020.
The associate professor and former chair of Business Communication brings teaching expertise to the new job in athletics. With advanced degrees in English and education, she works with student-athletes who may need academic help, scheduling sessions in time management, study skills, academic fatigue, and a host of other relevant topics.
She brought a chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national honor society for student-athletes, to Stevenson, inducting the first class virtually in the spring of 2021. She is part of the Dick Watts Athletics Hall of Fame Committee and a valuable member of the department's senior staff.
Her engagement in Stevenson life, and her passion for reading, keep her busy.
Rouse was the recipient of the Fran Fidler Spirit Award at the 2022 Mustang Gala, bestowed upon a student-athlete, coach or staff member. Named after Fran Fidler, a member of the university community for over 20 years, the award was created to honor her unwavering positive spirit. The recipient is someone with a positive attitude, a sense of involvement and passion for the athletics department as a whole. This nominee will always have the best interest of the university at heart and will always go the extra mile to support Stevenson University Athletics.
