Charlie Johnson returns for his third season with the Mustangs for the 2026 season.

Johnson had a monumental U-turn following his debut season with the Mustangs. From three wins in 2024, Johnson led his team to 11 victories, including a six wins in an eight-game unbeaten streak. The Mustangs were a tough team to compete with on both sides of the ball under his leadership. They scoerd 43 goals, 27 more than last season and the most in the MAC Commonwealth, while conceded the second-fewest goals in the Conference 22, a 16 goal improvement from the year prior. Gianfranco Vitella led the conference in Goals, Assists, Shots on Goal, and Points and was a focal point in Stevenson's dominance. Johnson appeared in his first MAC Commonwealth Tournament advancing to the championship game after finishing the season second in conference play with a 4-2-1 record. The accolades he collected in his second year proved his team bought into his systems as Johnson and his staff were Co-MAC Commonwealth Staff of the Year, had Vitella named MAC Commonwelath Offensive Player of the Year, Vitella and Ellis Amo named to the All-MAC First Team, Jacob Greene and Owen Haviland to All-MAC Commonwealth Second Team. The conference honors were topped off by Vitella's selection to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region V Second Team selection and Amo's Fourth Team selection.

Appointed Head Coach before the 2024 season commenced, Johnson went through a rebuilding phase showcasing his ability to create a unique identity for the team. He started his Stevenson career with a 1-0 victory over Allegheny College, but only claimed two more wins against King's College (Pa.) and Hood College later in the season. Despite a loss, a highlight of the season was the 0-1 loss to No.1 Mary Washington. In that match his side faced 33 shots and his Goalkeeper Nolen Olson-Warwick made 13 saves. His 3-10-6 record was not an accurate representation of environment Johnson built with the team in his first season. Senior Bryant Seivers was named to the All-MAC Commonwealth Second Team.

In addition to his efforts at Stevenson, Johnson was appointed to the coaching staff of Eagle FC, entering USL 2 for their inaugural season in 2026, as a goalkeeper coach. At Eagle FC, he has coached and developed high-level collegiate and aspiring professional athletes.

Johnson has an impressive soccer pedigree, before getting appointed at Stevenson, he served as an assistant at Division I Lafayette College for three years. During his time at Lafayette, the Leopards qualified for the Patriot League tournament three times and advanced to the Patriot League Championship games in Spring 2021 and 2023. Also, Johnson assisted the program to its first ever ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 poll in Spring 2021.

Prior to his time in Easton, Johnson was the assistant and goalkeeper coach at PSU-Harrisburg, as the Nittany Lions won the then North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) title and went to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history in 2019. Johnson guided PSU-Harrisburg to a new single-season win record in program history (15 wins) and ranked first in Division III in regular season shutouts with 12. From 2017-2019 served as the first assistant and goalkeeper coach at nearby McDaniel College, leading the Green Terror to their first winning season and playoff berth in 12 years. The Green Terror posted its best defensive record for goals-against in 20 years.

Johnson attended York College of Pennsylvania, where he had a four-year playing career that included a Capital Athletic Conference title and a trip to the NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen in 2013. He was a two-year team captain and appeared in 56 games for the Spartans, fourth all-time. Johnson also ranks in the top five of all goalkeeper records at York College of PA.

He graduated from York College of PA with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management and a minor in athletic coaching in 2017. He later earned his Master's Degree in Kinesiology from McDaniel College in 2019. Johnson holds a United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma and a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper Level 3 diploma.
