Breton LaRose enters his fourth season as the Pitching Coach for the Mustangs, where he oversees all aspects of pitching development for both starters and relievers while assisting Head Coach Matt Righter with day-to-day program operations.

Under LaRose’s leadership, the Mustang pitching staff has continued to make significant strides in both depth and performance. His emphasis on individualized development, kinesthetic training, and competitive growth has played a key role in the program’s progress on the mound. The Mustangs lowered their team ERA from over 8.00 to 6.81 while improving their strikeout-to-walk ratio from 1.15 in 2024 to 1.7 in 2025, marking one of the most notable areas of year-over-year improvement within the program.

Prior to joining Stevenson, LaRose helped build a highly respected reputation at Penn State Harrisburg, where multiple pitchers received regional and national honors under his tutelage. Drew Harshbarger was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team. Fellow starter Zach Gettys was honored as the United East Pitcher of the Year and received First-Team All-Region recognition from both the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com. Collectively, his 2022 staff ranked 11th nationally in strikeouts per nine innings (10.0).

A native of Ogdensburg, N.Y., LaRose was a standout collegiate reliever at Division II Lock Haven University, where he became the program’s all-time leader in saves (18) and earned First-Team All-Conference honors. He helped lead the Bald Eagles to the PSAC Tournament in 2017 after beginning his career at Division I Sacred Heart, where he contributed to the 2015 NEC Championship and NCAA Regional appearance at TCU.

LaRose has also served as the Pitching Director for the Central Penn Renegades, overseeing pitching development from 11U–18U, and as a lead instructor at In The Net Sports Academy. His playing experience includes two seasons with the Kokomo Jackrabbits of the Prospect League where he helped his team to a runner-up finish; and two seasons with the NYCBL’s Genesee Rapids, where he was an All-Star in 2016.
