  • The ninth head coach in program history, Berzins was named head men's volleyball coach in October, 2016.

  • Mustangs were ranked in the preseason poll in 2019 and 2020
  • Led Stevenson to a 12-5 record in a shortened 2020 season, including a win over No. 6 Rivier
  • Posted a 30-4 record in 2019, advancing to the MAC Championship game

personal

  • Berzins graduated from Ohio State in 1978 and completed his Master’s in Computer Science from San Diego State University in 1996.
  • Berzins and his wife, Mara, have three sons, Kris, Mik, and Dainis
  • Kris played professionally in Athens, Greece and Kalgenfurt, Austria, after his career at Loyola University Chicago, later as an Assistant Coach, Loyola University Chicago won 2 back to back NCAA National Championships  in 2014 and 2015
  • Mik was on the first NCAA National Championship Team in 2011 for Ohio State University and played in Ostrava, Czech Republic and Groningen, Netherlands 
  • Dainis played at Loyola University Chicago, and was a member of their first National Championship team in 2014.
