Duante' Abercrombie is in his third season with the Stevenson men's hockey program as an assistant coach during the 2021-22 season.
The Mustangs matched a program record with 18 wins during the 2021-22 campaign, which saw a nine game winning streak as part of a truncated end of the season. Ryan Kenny earned UCHC Goaltender of the Year and MAC Defensive Player of the Year awards for the Mustangs, while senior captain Ryan Patrick set the program's all-time points mark before signing with the Peoria Rivermen of the SPHL.
Working primarily with skill development, Abercrombie has been involved in the sport since the age of six.
He is one of the co-stars in the new series, NHL Bound, which chronicles his participation in the Arizona Coyotes' first-ever coaching internship program, dedicated to creating a deeper pool of diverse talent.
Abercrombie was one of two individuals in the newly-formed Arizona Coyotes' coaching internship program for young diverse hockey coaches. He worked at the team's Development Camp in September 2021, shadowing the Coyotes coaching staff led by Coach Tourigny, taking part in daily coaching and player meetings and assisting the staff with on-ice drills.
He also serves this season as the Washington Little Caps U-19 head coach. Prior to joining the Mustangs, he served as the head coach of the Washington Little Caps U-16 AAA team and was an assistant coach at Georgetown Preparatory School.
