Marcia Fletcher Williams enters her second season as the head coach for the Cross Country and Track and Field programs in the 2026-27 seasons.

A highly accomplished coach, educator, and former All-American student-athlete, Fletcher Williams brings more than 25 years of collegiate coaching and leadership experience spanning NCAA Division I, II, and III programs.

Prior to joining Stevenson in 2025, Fletcher Williams served as Associate Head Track and Field Coach at Limestone University, where she coached multiple conference champions, All-Americans, and school record holders. During her tenure, she helped develop a NCAA Division II All-American and national medalist in the triple jump, a NCAA Division II Southeast Region Athlete of the Year, several South Atlantic Conference champions, and numerous school-record holders in the jumps and pole vault events. She also served as the institution's Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee (ADID), helping foster an inclusive and supportive environment for student-athletes.

Fletcher Williams previously served as Head Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country Coach at Clemson University from 2000 to 2008, becoming the first Black head coach in any sport in Clemson history. During her tenure, she led one of the most successful periods in program history. Her 2001 team recorded the highest NCAA Championship finishes ever achieved by a Clemson women’s track and field team, placing third nationally indoors and seventh outdoors. Under her leadership, Clemson produced eight national champions, 34 All-Americans, 51 ACC champions, multiple Academic All-Americans, and three future Olympians while consistently maintaining success both academically and competitively.

Prior to Clemson, Fletcher Williams served as Head Women’s Track and Field Coach at Stephen F. Austin State University and spent five years as an assistant coach at Yale University, where she coached and mentored student-athletes while assisting with recruiting and program operations.

A former standout student-athlete at Clemson, Fletcher Williams was an NCAA Division I Indoor All-American in the long jump, a member of Clemson’s first ACC Championship women’s track and field team, and the recipient of numerous academic and athletic honors, including NAACP Student-Athlete of the Year. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and a Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems from Clemson University.

Fletcher Williams holds numerous professional certifications, including NCSF Certified Personal Trainer, USTFCCCACertified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, USTFCCCA Certified Jumps Specialist, and USA Track & Field Level II certifications in sprints, hurdles, relays, and jumps. Her career has been defined by excellence in coaching, student-athlete development, leadership, and service, making her one of the most respected figures in collegiate track and field.
