Sean Gilhooly enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Mustangs in the 2026-27 season.
Gilhooly joined the Stevenson and quickly made an impact through his work in recruiting, player development, and scouting preparation. In his role, he evaluates prospective student-athletes throughout the DMV and Northeast regions while building relationships with high school and AAU programs and assisting with recruiting efforts through the transfer portal.
He also plays a key role in player development, leading individual workouts, conducting film breakdown sessions, and working with players on position-specific skill training to enhance both individual growth and team performance. Gilhooly contributes to game preparation as well, scouting opponents and producing detailed personnel reports and statistical breakdowns ahead of matchups.
Along with his on-court responsibilities, Gilhooly assists with practice instruction—often focusing on defensive drills—and helps coordinate program logistics and budgeting, including travel, recruiting expenses, and gameday operations.
Prior to joining Stevenson, Gilhooly spent four years with the Rutgers University men's basketball program, where he rose from student manager to head student manager. In that role, he oversaw a staff of more than 25 managers while assisting the coaching staff with practice preparation, game-day operations, recruiting visits, and performance analysis. He graduate from Rutgers with a degree in Sports Management.
