A highly acclaimed leader and one of the most recognized and accomplished head coaches in the country, Stewart was named the second head men's basketball coach in school history on June 28, 2011. Stewart also serves as an Assistant Athletic Director and is the Director of the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

He is actively involved in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Board of the Directors, recently appointed President during the 2021-22 NCAA DI Final Four. In his role as NABC President, Stewart provides strategic oversight of the NABC and works to ensure coaches' input is considered by the game's governing bodies. 

In addition to leading Stevenson on the court, Stewart is a champion when it comes to academic success and campus culture. During his time at Stevenson, numerous student-athletes have received academic honors. His teams have been recognized for their performance in the classroom.

Stewart has also led the Mustangs in community service both locally and nationally.
