In his role at Stevenson, Montanez works closely with the running backs unit, focusing on skill development, game preparation, and overall performance. He plays an active role in recruiting, with a primary focus on Northern Virginia as well as national and southern regions, helping to identify and attract prospective student-athletes to the program. Beyond the field, he is dedicated to mentoring his players, building strong relationships with families, and supporting student-athletes in maintaining academic success. He has also contributed to community outreach efforts by organizing recruiting seminars and engagement opportunities.

Montanez brings a wealth of coaching experience from the high school ranks, where he spent more than a decade developing offensive talent. From 2015 to 2020, he served as the offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Osbourn Park High School and Brentsville District High School in Manassas, Virginia. In those roles, he designed and implemented offensive systems, developed practice and player development plans, and collaborated with coaching staffs to establish team strategy and structure. His coaching career also includes stops at Stonewall Jackson High School, Osbourn High School, and Potomac High School, where he helped guide numerous student-athletes through the transition from high school to collegiate football.

In addition to coaching, Montanez is the owner of A Taste of Puerto Rico Catering, demonstrating his leadership and entrepreneurial skills outside of athletics. He has also been recognized for his contributions to the sport through involvement with the Division III Coach of the Year Committee and by coaching players who have advanced to the professional level, including Ryan Williams, Damien Thigpen, Brandon Hogan, Tim Settle, and Greg Strohman.

Montanez is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Human Services with a minor in Coaching at Old Dominion University. He previously earned an Associate of General Studies degree from Northern Virginia Community College.

A USA Football Certified Coach, Montanez is proficient in key communication and organizational tools and remains committed to NCAA compliance and best practices in collegiate athletics.
