OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson men's soccer team opened its 2026 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Elizabethtown on Tuesday evening in Mustang Stadium. Landon Eaton broke the scoreless tie in the 88th minute to secure the season-opening win for the Mustangs.
Stevenson controlled much of the offensive pressure throughout the contest, outshooting Elizabethtown, 12-7, while holding a 9-6 advantage in corner kicks. The Mustangs put four attempts on frame compared to two from the Blue Jays.
Jackson Robinson recorded Stevenson's first shot on goal in the seventh minute before Jacob Greene and Nico Paz each tested the Blue Jays later in the opening half. The two sides entered halftime scoreless.
Stevenson continued to apply pressure in the second half, earning six corner kicks over the final 45 minutes.
The breakthrough finally came at the 87:01 mark when Eaton found the back of the net off an assist from Nick Gervase, giving Stevenson the 1-0 advantage with less than three minutes remaining.
Elizabethtown responded immediately with two late chances, including an attempt that struck the crossbar and a shot on goal, but Stevenson goalkeeper Andrew Sindicic made the save to preserve the shutout.
The Mustangs return to action on Friday when they travel to Washington D.C. to face Gallaudet for a 5 p.m. start time.
