ANNVILLE, Pa. – Stevenson women's soccer battled Lebanon Valley through a scoreless opening half before falling, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Herbert Field.
Lebanon Valley applied pressure early, but goalkeeper Sophia Valenzano helped keep the contest scoreless. Saleigha Fennel generated Stevenson's first opportunity in the 15th minute, putting an attempt on goal that was turned away by Lebanon Valley goalkeeper. Fennel added another shot on goal in the 24th minute, while Courtney Keehner recorded an attempt later in the half.
The Mustangs and Dutchmen entered halftime tied at zero. Valenzano recorded four saves in the opening 45 minutes.
Stevenson continued searching for the opening goal in the second half. Kailyn Beall placed an attempt on frame in the 58th minute before Keehner followed with another opportunity in the 65th.
Lebanon Valley broke the scoreless tie in the 67th minute when they found the back of the net, giving the Dutchmen a 1-0 advantage.
The Mustangs looked for an equalizer as Beall recorded another attempt in the 76th minute before Nyla Behram put a shot on goal in the 78th. Lebanon Valley extended its lead in the 84th, securing the 2-0 final.
Stevenson finished the contest with eight shots, placing four on goal. Fennel led the Mustangs with three shots and two on goal, while Beall added two shots with one on frame. Valenzano finished with 10 saves in net.
The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday when they host Susquehanna at 7 p.m. on Owings Mills East.
