COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The No. 12 Stevenson field hockey team defeated No. 14 Ursinus, 1-0, in overtime on Friday night. With the victory, the Mustangs improved to 6-0 on the season while extending their shutout streak to six consecutive games.
Despite a scoreless 60 minutes of regulation, Stevenson controlled the offensive play, outshooting Ursinus 12-9 overall and 7-3 on goal.
In overtime, Hailey Mertz netted the game-winning goal at the 3:25 mark off an assist from Shae Bennett to secure the victory for the Mustangs.
In goal, Jordan Vradenburgh recorded the shutout victory, making three saves.
The Mustangs return to Owings Mills on Wednesday, Sept. 23, when they host their next ranked opponent, No. 2 Salisbury. The contest is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Owings Mills East. Stevenson will also be promoting Morgan's Message during the contest as part of an effort to break the stigma surrounding mental health.
