HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Jean-Baptiste and Leo Perez both carded scores of 74 (+2) to pace the Mustangs in the opening round of the two-day Kinder Williams Invitational, held at the Lakeview Golf Club. Jean-Baptiste and Perez, who are currently tied for 29th, have carded scores of 75 or lower in each of their first three rounds this fall. 

The Mustangs finished the day at +11 (299) and are in sole possession of 11th place in the team standings. 

Ryan Thomas finished a stroke back of Jean-Baptiste and Perez with a 75. Noah Schurman finished at +4 (76) to round out the team score.

Matt Slivosky and Christian Trivane finished the day at +6 and +7.

Jimmy Spallone of Christopher Newport and Wyatt Reeder of Pfeiffer are tied atop the leaderboard at -4. Roanoke, Christopher Newport and Bridgewater lead the team standings at -4.

The second and final round will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
