Women’s Lacrosse downs Albright on Senior Day

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's lacrosse team (10-7 overall, 5-2 MAC Commonwealth) earned a 16-5 victory over Albright on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the contest, the Mustangs honored their senior class: Ava Treakle, Melina Primrose, Maddie Kline, and Anna Johnston.

Stevenson came out strong, opening the game with three straight goals from Emma Carpenter, Ava Treakle, and Olivia Galati. Albright got on the board at the 2:53 mark of the first quarter, but the Mustangs maintained a 3-1 lead heading into the second.

After Albright struck first in the second quarter, Stevenson responded with a four-goal run behind tallies from June Price, Carpenter, and Galati. The Lions ended the run with 34 seconds remaining in the half, but Price answered with a goal of her own with just nine seconds on the clock to send the Mustangs into halftime with an 8-3 advantage.

The Mustangs' defense dominated the third quarter, holding Albright scoreless while the offense poured in six consecutive goals. Alice Petersen, Zoe Kaplan, Carpenter, and Galati all found the back of the net during the surge, extending the lead to 14-3 heading into the final frame.

Treakle added another goal early in the fourth quarter at the 13:48 mark. Although Albright netted two late goals, Lizzy Cohen capped the scoring off a feed from Kora Ketner to secure the 16-5 victory for Stevenson.

Galati had a seven-point afternoon with five goals and two assists, as Carpenter and Petersen each tallied five points. Price had a three-point game, as Treakle put away two goals. Treakle led the Mustangs with five draw controls and Carpenter picked up four and Galati grabbed three. In goal, Emily Steinberg, Regan Torbert, and Anna Johnston all spent time in goal for a combined six saves.

The team has now clinched the No.3 seed in the MAC Commonwealth tournament, and will travel to face No. 2 seeded York College of Pa. The contest time will be announced once finalized.
